St. Vincent De Paul Society is Born in Nakhodka, Russia
St.
Vincent De Paul Society was organized (April 29, 2007) in the Our Lady of the Pacific Parish in Nakhodka, Russia. It was established under the leadership and spiritual guidance of Fr. Sebastian
Marian D’Silva, the new pastor of the parish. The first volunteer team included Leila Abasovna Yasdhenko, Lydia Bex and Galina Dermanobskaya.
After
a short prayer, the most pressing needs of the parish community were identified, and below are the Society’s goals that
were established:
1) Help for the children and young people,
especially educational help.
2) Moral and practical support for the
lonely.
3) Moral help and if needed financial
help for
families with problems.
4) Initiatives to help unmarried mothers
and
abandoned women.
5) Help for senior citizens, home visits.
6) Visiting the sick, physically and
mentally
handicapped.
7) Help for alcoholics, drug-addicts.
8) Starting a parish library, mainly
religious books,
since religious books are not available
in usual
libraries in the town.
9) Helping in catechesis and marriage
preparation.
We pray that someday soon, our hard work and diligent determination will bring a better life
to all those who suffer.
